"It's what you learn, after you know it all, that counts" - John Wooden
At some point, all three owners of Thrive At Work found themselves at the top of their game. John was a recording artist on his way to international renown. Doric was a high ranking government executive, and Damon was in charge of leadership development research at Microsoft. They were achieving their dreams and yet it felt hollow. The lack of meaning and genuine enjoyment in their work inspired them to solve the problems that plague so many people in the modern workplace:
- On the individual level, how do I achieve important goals while also thriving and enjoying my life?
- On an organizational level, how do we create cultures that continually inspire people give their best in a sustainable way?
Meaning happens when we connect with something greater than ourselves, something that seems worthwhile. It often happens when we experience a connection with other people, or with a genuine sense of purpose. It can also happen when we are learning and growing. Experiencing meaning requires an act of faith, a reaching out into the unknown in order to make it known. Success, the way that it is commonly defined, points to status and money. Although a certain amount of money is necessary to get along in the world, neither status or money have been found to motivate people in a sustainable way.
We offer decades of experience in helping people bring out the best in themselves and others. We take a strengths based approach to coaching and consulting that promotes personal growth, effective problem solving skills, work-life balance, and discovering what naturally motivates us. We have over 15 years of direct experience in supervision, mid-management, and executive leadership. We have even more experience coaching and consulting with individuals, supervisors, and leaders at all levels. Specific examples include work with government agency executives, mid-managers, private business owners, team leaders, job seekers, and individuals wanting to find more meaning, energy and effectiveness in their lives.
